Why is Chemical Selection Important?
Ultrasonic cleaning performance is directly related to correct chemical selection. Wrong chemical selection can lead to material damage, insufficient cleaning and occupational safety issues. Chemicals are determined according to the material of the part to be cleaned, type of contamination and washing temperature.
Chemical Types
- Alkaline (pH 9-13): Oil, grease, carbon, organic dirt - most common
- Neutral (pH 6-8): Light contamination, sensitive materials, aluminum
- Acidic (pH 1-5): Oxide, rust, mineral residue, limescale
- Detergent-based: General purpose, foam control
- Solvent-based: Effective against oil and organic dirt
Material Compatibility
- Steel: Alkaline and mild acidic
- Aluminum: Neutral or special alkaline (pH max 10)
- Brass/Copper: Mild acidic
- Titanium: Can be used in wide pH range
- Plastic: Low temperature, neutral chemical
